The Organix Foundation aims to provide funds in 4 key areas:

  1. Original Research
Trustees will fund original research projects to gather new data which provides support to those who offer advice or campaign for better food for children. This research can be laboratory based, community based, quantitative, qualitative or experimental and Trustees will select projects to fund that are new and innovative, but which are unlikely to gain funds elsewhere. OF aims to spend about 40% of its available funds on empirical research projects.

  2. Applying research to good practice
Trustees are keen that there are good sources of objective and clear information available to parents, carers, teachers and health care professionals about how to help children to eat well. This can be through the preparation of resources, through setting up websites and campaign groups, through preparing expert reports or factsheets for example. OF aims to spend about 40% of its available funds on applying research to good practice.

  3. Working with other charities and NGO
Trustees realise that there are other charities and NGO which can make a valuable contribution to work around children, food and health and where there are suitable opportunities to do so, will co-fund or support work with others. OF aims to spend about 10% of its available funds on joint working.

  4. Supporting the future food and nutrition workforce
Trustees are aware that many graduates of nutrition find it difficult to gain some post-graduate experience. OF offers both BSc and MSc students who graduate from accredited nutrition courses (accredited with the Association for Nutrition) to do a short research project for 3 months in the area of children, food and health, supervised by the institution from which they graduated up to a cost of £5,000. OF aims to spend about 10% of its available funds on supporting new graduates.

Please note: At the current time only students can apply directly to OF for funding as other projects are currently being funded by direct invitation. Students can find an
application form on this website and can apply in May for a BSc postgraduate grant and in August for an MSc postgraduate grant.
