What are the student grants?
The Organix Foundation offers bursaries for up to £5,000 per student over 3 months for final year BSc students who have been studying for an accredited nutrition qualification. The aim of the grant is to allow new graduates to continue work on their dissertation project or to prepare a paper which relates to an area of interest to the Foundation and to gain some essential first work experience.

Who is eligible?
Students who have completed an accredited course in nutrition are those on courses accredited by The Association for Nutrition (AfN) in the UK. Students on these courses are eligible for associate registration when they graduate. For information about the AfN, please see their website at www.associationfornutrition.org

When can I apply?
The bursary is for students to use AFTER they have completed the taught elements of their course and their dissertation. We do not offer funds to students during their studies or to complete their courses.

How can I apply?
Students must be nominated by their academic institution who will also be asked to manage the grant awarded. The application form link is at the bottom of this page.

Students will be asked to prepare a 2 page summary of the work they would like to conduct, explain how they will use their bursary and describe how this work will contribute to the aims of the Foundation. Students will also require a letter from their academic supervisor supporting their application and agreeing that the University will administer any grant received.

We currently offer a bursary of £1,200 per calendar month for the student and reasonable project expenses for consumables or travel essential to the project.

What do Trustees look for?
Trustees are interested in well written and clearly explained pieces of work, achievable in 3 months, which allow the student an opportunity to gain independent work experience. Trustees will consider a wide range of projects, both laboratory based, community based and library based, in any area which attempts to provide new and innovative information related to food quality, food choice or food and health or children. Examples of funded projects can be found in the OF Annual Report. If students are unsure if a project will be appropriate, they can email Helen@organixfoundation.org for advice.

When should I apply?
BSc students who wish to apply for a student grant should submit their applications by email, alongside the letter of support from their academic supervisor before the end of May each year. Trustees will consider the applications in the first week of June and let applicants know their decision by the end of June.
